Hot Springs Toastmasters to meet Saturday morning

-

Hot Springs Toastmasters will hold its weekly club meeting at 8 a.m. Saturday both in person and on Zoom.

“The club is planning an outdoor open house type meeting in May, at Entergy Park, using a covered pavilion. This will particularly focus on guests, so members and other interested persons should think about such plans. Entergy Park is on the east side of town off Carpenter Dam Road. Guests are also welcome to visit at any time (we do suggest contacting us first),” a news release said.

The in-person part of Saturday’s meeting will be at the 1st Church of the Nazarene, 3804 Central Ave. Visitors are welcome, at no charge, “though it is helpful if you contact us in advance, so we can plan for spacing if needed,” the release said. The church can be accessed from the back, off Files Road.

In-person participants are asked to bring or wear a mask. If attendance requires it, there is access to a larger room for social distancing.

Holding hybrid meetings, which include both in-person and online Zoom attendance, is encouraged by Toastmasters International.

Visitors are welcome to attend at no charge but are asked to contact the club in advance. For more information, including directions, email via the club website, https://7643.toastmastersclubs.org/, call 501-620-9943 or 501-262-1664. The club can also be contacted using the “find a club” option on the Toastmasters International website, https://www.toastmasters.org/. The online meeting location cannot be accessed through either website. The club has been meeting online since late March.

Toastmasters is a “supportive, inexpensive way to learn speaking and leadership skills.”

Training resources for speechmaking are part of Toastmasters’ support available to members. Toastmasters International’s materials and programs also offer leadership development. New members are offered mentoring, either assigned or a chosen match. Meeting roles rotate from one week to the next. There is no charge to attend. Meetings normally are one hour long.
