Satan’s shoe deal

-

Satan got a shoe deal. Musician Lil Nas X and streetwear company MSCHF put out a limited edition shoe that the company called “Satan Shoes.” The shoes have a devil-focused theme and reportedly contain a drop of human blood. There were only 666 pairs made of the black shoes with red accents. A pentagram charm hangs from each pair, and the shoes have the bible verse “Luke 10:18” written on them. The verse reads, “And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.”

The devil-themed shoes follow Lil Nas X’s release of a devil-themed music video for his song

Montero. The shoes sold for $1,018 and sold out in less than one minute. The shoes quickly hit the resell market. At this writing, the shoes are selling for $7,100 per pair.

Obviously, the shoes were a success in the marketplace but with such a limited number of pairs made it was as a marketing stunt for Lil Nas X’s music. The video the shoes were promoting has been viewed over 37 million times.

Of course, this is not the first time a musician has used Lucifer to sell a few records. Does anyone remember Alice Cooper? Alice played the role of a villain that tortured people and killed women. He wore smeared makeup on stage and carried a live boa constrictor around his neck. Cooper chopped up dolls on stage with axes and hung people from gallows. His most famous stunt involves a live chicken. I will let you research that one for yourself. All of this done for the sake of fame and album sells.

Fast forward, a couple of decades and Vincent Furnier (Alice’s real name) is an actor who owns several restaurants. Vincent is also an avid golfer who plays an average of six days a week. He has been married to his wife Sheryl for 45 years and the couple has three children. Sounds like a tame life for a former buddy of Beelzebub.

We cannot forget the self-proclaimed “Prince of Darkness” Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy rose to fame as the frontman for a group called Black Sabbath in the 1970s. He went on to leave Black Sabbath and have a very successful solo career.

Some of the things Osbourne did that were not, shall we say, normal. Things like after signing the first record deal of his solo career, Ozzy released a set of doves into the air as what he described as a “sign of peace.” Unfortunately, due to Ozzy being intoxicated, it’s claimed he grabbed the closest dove and bit its head off.

Not satisfied with beheading a dove, sometime later during a performance, a fan threw something at the stage; Osbourne picked it up and, assuming it was a toy bat, bit the bat’s head off. He had to get rabies shots after that one.

Today, John Michael Osbourne is fondly viewed by many as a doddering and kindly TV dad they grew up with, thanks to the success of his reality show “The Osbournes.” Osbourne has been married to his wife Sharon since 1982 and they have three children together.

Osbourne denies the charge of being a Satanist. It is reported that he is a member of the Church of England and that he prayed before taking the stage each night before every concert. I am glad the “Prince of Darkness” has found a church home.

So let’s not be too shocked by Montero Lamar Hill’s (aka Lil Nas X) shoe antics. After all, he is following in the footsteps of two Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Famers.
