The Giving Team Inc.’s “Food for Thought” will continue its COVID-19 vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot on the corner of Malvern Avenue and Church Street adjacent to Habitat ReStore.

District 2 City Director Elaine Jones said in a news release she is hoping the citizens of District 2 who have not had an immunization would come out to get a COVID-19 vaccination, as well as to take advantage of all the resources that will be provided at “Food for Thought.”

“We need our citizens of Hot Springs and Garland County vaccinated. The numbers are very high and we want you all to get the shot,” Jones said.

The clinic is also for anyone who received their first vaccination on July 24 and need their second shot.

“We are also encouraging others to take advantage of our incentives to come and get a shot, as well,” said Giving Team founder Janice Davis. “We are asking African Americans, Hispanics, Latinos, underserved, and marginalized communities to please come. The Pfizer vaccine will be given to ages 12 and older, she said.

The clinic is sponsored by Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Kroger Pharmacy of Hot Springs.

Services will include Samaritan Feet, which will provide shoes, along with The Giving Team Inc.; New Life Church Outreach, hot lunch; Ouachita Behavioral and Wellness; Jim Rardin, free cellphone for SNAP/Medicaid recipients; Walgreens at Grand and Malvern; Celebrating Teachers, food bags; IronGrace Ministries; Cooperative Christian Ministries and Clinic; Literacy Council of Garland County; and several other resources.

“We are doing our part to meet the residents of Hot Springs where they are and provide this community with life’s basic essentials for survival: food, clothing, social services, and life skills opportunities,” Davis said.
