Artists’ Workshop Gallery 610-A Central Ave.

Artists’ Workshop Gallery introduces new gallery members as featured artists for September.

Kristi Ahlquist picked up a paintbrush for the first time 12 years ago after a devastating cancer diagnosis. “Painting, long at the top of her bucket list, then became a priority. Kristi enjoys painting in both oils and acrylic. Oils allow her to paint the fine details in her realistic dog portraits, while acrylics are her choice when creating her vibrant abstract paintings. Kristi and her husband recently moved to Hot Springs Village from Minnesota, where she indulges her passions for art and golf, and for her lifelong hobby of breeding and showing Cocker Spaniels and Boxers,” a news release said.

Featured artist Glenda Mullikin “loves to create art. It is her therapy, taking her to a different world of color and light that she seeks to capture in every painting. An Arkansas native and now a resident of Hot Springs, Glenda retired from teaching and began an artistic journey that started with a private drawing class. The journey continued with exploring a variety of mediums, all of which she enjoys. Her September exhibit will feature her luminous, colorful paintings in pastel, oil and other mediums. She is a member of the Pine Bluff Art League and the Arkansas Pastel Society.”

Jennifer Wheeler-Peterson is a graduate of Columbia College in Chicago. She also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. “Prior to retirement, Jennifer was a manager in the graphic design field, taking pottery lessons in her free time. She has won awards for both her paintings and pottery. Her inspiration comes from interesting scenes of people and nature,” the release said.

“I love the moment when every detail collides on the canvas in just the right way,” Wheeler-Peterson said in the release. Wheeler-Peterson and her husband recently moved to Hot Springs Village from North Carolina.

Miniature artists for September are Dianne Morgan and Caren Garner.
