Lupus Foundation golf tourney Oct. 2
The annual Terry Paul Thode Lupus golf tournament, a fundraiser for the Lupus Foundation of Arkansas, is set for Oct. 2 at Diamondhead Golf Course.
Players can register to play as an individual for $75 or teams can register for $300. Registration is set for 11:30 a.m. followed by tee time at 1 p.m.
Sponsors and donors will receive recognition on the course with a poster. Three different levels of sponsorships exist at $200, $300 and $500.

FRESHMAN RAMS DEFEAT ARKADELPHIA
ARKADELPHIA — The Lakeside freshman Rams defeated Arkadelphia 43-14 Thursday night behind a strong performance from Ryan Ballard, who rushed 12 times for 124 yards and four touchdowns during the win.
Lakeside scored first on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Ballard to Grady Ohman before Ballard punched in the 2-point conversion.
Ballard intercepted an Arkadelphia pass and returned the ball to the junior Badger 10-yard line. Ballard then scored on a 3-yard rush before he punched in another 2-point conversion for a 16-0 lead.
Ballard added two more rushing touchdowns and another 2-point conversion in the first half to send the teams into the break leading 30-0.
Arkadelphia scored to open the third quarter, but Ballard responded with another touchdown of his own as the freshman Rams stretched out to a 36-6 lead.
A Landon Rhea interception set up Lakeside’s final touchdown of the contest. Zakk Haywood took a 37-yard carry to the end zone before Denver Davidson tacked on the extra point.
The freshman Badgers added a late fourth quarter touchdown to set the final.
EIGHTH-GRADE RAMS TAKE ROAD WIN
ARKADELPHIA — Lakeside’s eighth grade team handled Arkadelphia 29-8 behind a stellar outing from quarterback Wally Wol
cott. Wolcott finished the game 6-for-7 passing for 139 yards and two touchdowns.
The eighth grade Rams broke open the scoring in the first quarter on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Walcott to Luke Wrublesky for a 6-0 lead.
Following a turnover, Lakeside scored on a Beau Brock 26-yard touchdown run before he also punched in the 2-point conversion.
Leading 14-0 in the first quarter, Chris Ford ran into the end zone from 11-yards out. Wolcott found Drew Morgan on the 2-point conversion for a 22-0 lead.
After another turnover, Wolcott found Morgan again, this time for a 13-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Sam Luse made the extra point as the eighth-grade Rams led 29-0.
Ford finished the game with 105 yards on five carries along with one reception for 24 yards. Morgan accounted for three receptions and 40 yards in the win.
Arkadelphia managed to score a touchdown and 2-point conversion in the fourth quarter to set the final.
