Tigers win 30th straight GAC contest

ARKADELPHI­A — Ouachita Baptist earned its 30th consecutiv­e Great American Conference game with a 38-24 victory over Arkansas Tech Saturday night at Cliff Harris Stadium.

Following a 50-yard pass from Grant Allen to T.J. Cole, the contest was interrupte­d approximat­ely 80 minutes due to a lightning delay. Following the delay, Cole ran the ball 23 of the remaining 24 yards to put the Tigers (3-0) on the scoreboard with 2:35 off the clock followed by Arkadelphi­a grad Gabe Goodman’s kick.

The Wonder Boys (0-3) responded with a 12-play, 71-yard drive for the end zone to score with 7:21 remaining before the Tigers put up 24 straight points, carrying over into the second half.

Arkansas Tech added a touchdown and field goal before Kendel Givens scored his third touchdown of the night with 7:14 remaining. The Wonder Boys set the final at the 1:18 mark.

Allen was 6-for-9 passing for 116 yards, Cole had 22 carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns, and Givens had 14 touches for 91 yards and three scores. Cole also led the receiving corps with two catches for 72 yards.

Jack Lindsey was 11-for-20 for 89 yards and a touchdown, Chase Joyrion had five catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, and Caleb Stokes had two catches for 41 yards. Ron Thompson led the Wonder Boys on the ground with seven carries for 62 yards, Caleb Batie had 19 touches for 61 yards and a score, and Kyren Harrison had the team’s other touchdown on his only touch, a 12-yard run.

The Tigers travel to Searcy to face Harding Saturday. The Wonder Boys host Arkansas-Monticello.

REDDIES 58, BOLL WEEVILS 18

MONTICELLO — Henderson State’s L’liott Curry had 10 catches for 228 yards and half of the Reddies eight touchdowns in a road romp at UAM.

Quarterbac­k Adam Morse, who was 26for-31 passing for 398 yards against a single intercepti­on, threw all four of his touchdown passes to Curry with scoring connection­s of 46, 6, 19 and 62 yards.

Curry put the Reddies (3-0) on the scoreboard 1:04 into the game, and HSU put up 27 straight before the Boll Weevils (1-2) scored with 2:06 left in the half. The Reddies took a 30-6 lead into the break off a 20-yard kick by Temo Martinez as time expired.

Duce Sproles had 11 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown, Kris Morris had nine carries for 47 yards, and Darius Austin, Landon Ledbetter and Morse each ran the ball in for scores.

Demilon Brown was 13-for-20 passing for

99 yards and two touchdowns with two picks for the Weevils, both scoring passes to C.J. Parham. Parham had seven catches for 46 yards.

Devontae Dean had 21 carries for 118 yards, Brown had 16 carries for 67, and Dorian Manuel had three for 19 and a score.

HSU hosts Southern Arkansas Saturday. The Weevils travel to Russellvil­le to take on Arkansas Tech.

BISONS 37, MULERIDERS 6

MAGNOLIA — Harding bounced back from its 32-31 loss on Sept. 11 to hand SAU firstyear head coach Mike McCarty his first loss on Family Day.

The Bisons (2-1) went up 17-0 in the first 15:04 of the game before allowing the Muleriders (21) their only score of the game with 11:17 left in the half.

Placekicke­r Ennis Grant was perfect on the day with 4-of-4 PATs and hitting field goals of 25, 23 and 43 yards.

Quarterbac­k Preston Paden was 1-for-3 passing, hitting Kage Citty for a 27-yard touchdown to put Harding on the scoreboard. Cole Chancey had 27 carries for 144 yards and two touchdowns, Blake Delacruz had eight carries for 64, Omar Sinclair picked up 52 yards on eight touches, and Robert Wilcke scored the Bisons’ other touchdown.

Hayden Mallory was 15-for23 passing for the Muleriders for 187 yards and one touchdown, a 31-yarder to Micah Small, who finished with seven catches for a game-high 122 yards. Jariq Scales led SAU on the ground with nine carries for 75 yards.

Harding hosts OBU Saturday. SAU travels to Arkadelphi­a to face the Reddies.
