A parolee sought on warrants was arrested on a felony drug charge Saturday morning after she allegedly admitted to having meth in her possession.

Laura Jean Vosburg, 55, who lists a Francis Street address, was taken into custody shortly after 10:30 a.m. and charged with possession of a controlled substance, meth, punishable by up to six years in prison.

Vosburg, who also had warrants for failure to appear and failure to comply, remains in custody on a zero bond parole hold and was set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court.

According to court records, Vosburg was previously convicted in Garland County Circuit Court on Aug. 16, 2016, of second-degree forgery and sentenced to five years’ supervised probation. She was convicted in district court on Oct. 8, 2020, of theft of property and sentenced to one year of supervised probation and fined $700. She was later found in contempt of court for failure to pay her fine and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

According to the probable cause affidavit on Saturday’s arrest, around 10:15 a.m., Hot Springs police Officer Christopher Gibson was patrolling in the area of Seventh and Noxon streets when he spotted Vosburg and knew she had multiple warrants for her arrest.

He detained her and after confirming the warrants and that she had a parole violation, he took her into custody.

Gibson asked Vosburg if she had anything on her person that was “going to hurt officers,” and she reportedly stated, “I have meth on me.” When asked where it was, she allegedly stated it was in her backpack.

Officers searched and found an Oreo plastic container in her backpack which contained 0.6 gram of what later tested positive for meth, resulting in the additional felony charge.
