A local man and woman, both felons, were arrested Wednesday morning after Garland County sheriff’s deputies allegedly found a gun in their residence while serving a parole violation warrant on the woman.

Grant Edward Rose, 48, and Candice Renee Lovell, 45, were both taken into custody shortly after 8 a.m. at their residence at 126 Pate Lane and each charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons, a felony punishable by up to six years in prison.

Rose was later released on a $2,500 bond and is set to appear on Oct. 25 in Garland County District Court. Lovell remained in custody Thursday on a zero bond parole hold and is set to appear today in district court.

According to court records, Lovell was previously convicted in Garland County on June 4, 2012, of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, and sentenced to three years’ supervised probation. On Oct.

15, 2018, she was convicted of possession of a controlled substance, meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia and sentenced to three years in prison, but was later paroled.

Rose was reportedly convicted on Sept. 5, 1995, in Pulaski County of manufacturing a controlled substance, marijuana, and sentenced to three years’ probation. He was convicted again in Pulaski County on July 29, 2003, of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and again sentenced to three years’ probation.

According to the probable cause affidavit for Wednesday’s arrest, sheriff’s Sgt. Jon Lane, Cpl. Devyn Helms and Deputies Hunter Grubbs and Chandler Overton went to the Pate Lane residence regarding an absconder warrant for Lovell and made contact with Rose at the front door. He reportedly told them Lovell was inside.

The deputies entered and located Lovell in a bedroom and took her into custody after confirming the warrant. It was also noted she was on active supervision with a search waiver on file and they also noted Rose’s status as a felon.

While searching the home, deputies allegedly found a loaded Bersa 9-mm semi-automatic handgun in the bedroom. The gun was found in a black bag which also contained multiple “loose rounds” of ammunition.

Lovell reportedly stated they bought the gun for her son as a present, but as felons both of them are prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms, so both were charged.
