Northwoods coordinator to address Master Naturalists
Traci Berry, Northwoods Trails coordinator for Visit Hot Springs, will present a program to Diamond Lakes Arkansas Master Naturalists at its October chapter meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Transportation Depot meeting room, 100 Broadway Terrace.
The public is welcome to attend the presentation to learn about the Northwoods Trails and future expansions of the trails, a news release said. Attendees are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
Berry was named the Northwoods Trails coordinator in November 2018.
“Under her leadership, the trails have become a hiking and mountain biking destination for locals as well as out-of-town visitors,” the release said.
The Diamond Lakes Arkansas Master Naturalists will also lead a hike on the Northwoods Trails on Saturday, Oct. 16, beginning at 9 a.m. The public is welcome to join this hike, which will begin at the Pullman Trailhead located at 800 Pullman Ave. The hike will be about a 3.5-mile round trip from the Pullman Trailhead to Sanderson Lake and back. Certified Arkansas Master Naturalists will provide commentary on trees and plants along the hike.
This presentation and hike are a continuation of fall programs presented by the Diamond Lakes Arkansas Master Naturalists in partnership with the city of Hot Springs’ Parks and Trails Department and Visit Hot Springs Northwood Trails. The programs are designed to encourage and promote increased awareness of the rich opportunities the parks and trails of our area provide. Future events include a presentation on Birding Basics given by Dr. Jerry Butler of the Audubon Society. This program will be presented at the monthly chapter meeting of the Diamond Lakes Arkansas Master Naturalists on Nov. 11. Butler will also lead a bird identification hike along the trails at Entergy Park the following Saturday, Nov. 13. The public is welcome at both events.
Registration is required for these events. Register by emailing Bill Randel at wrrandel@gmail.com or by visiting http://www.arkansasmasternaturalists.org and clicking on the appropriate date for the registration form under the event calendar.
