WHAT’S NEW ON NETFLIX

“You” - Season 3

Get obsessed with Season 3 of “You,” coming to Netflix on Friday, Oct. 15. Based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, this fanfavorit­e series brings romance, crime and a whole lot of creepy suspense together in one place. Penn Badgley (“Gossip Girl”) stars as Joe Goldberg, a New York book store manager and serial killer who develops dangerous, twisted and delusional obsessions with various women in his life. Season 2 of the series saw Joe move to Los Angeles with a new identity and fall in love with chef Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti, “Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood,” 2019). Season 3 now sees the continuati­on of Love and Joe’s relationsh­ip, with new life changes and more new obsessions. From creators Sera Gamble (“Supernatur­al”) and Greg Berlanti (“Riverdale”), the series also stars Ambyr Childers (“Ray Donovan”), Michaela Mcmanus (“Aquarius”), Saffron Burrows (“Mozart in the Jungle”), Tati Gabrielle (“The 100”) and Dylan Arnold (“Halloween,” 2018).

“Fever Dream” (2021)

Dreams become nightmares in the new Chilean-american horror film “Fever Dream,” making its premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Psychologi­cal horror takes an environmen­tal turn in this film adaptation of Samantha Schweblin’s 2014 novel of the same name.the story focuses on a young woman named Amanda (María Valverde, “Spider,” 2019), who is deeply unwell. Discovered in the woods by her friend’s son, David (Emilio Vodanovich, “The Accused,” 2018), Amanda’s story unravels as the film tells a tale of pain, terror and the fragile bonds between parents and children. Mixing together touches of magic with horror, this thought-provoking film comes from director and writer Claudia Llosa (“The Milk of Sorrow,” 2009). Doloes Fonzi (“Truman,” 2015), Guillermo Pfening (“Nobody’s Watching,” 2017), Germán Palacios (“The Fragility of Bodies”), Marcelo Michinaux (“Terapia Alternativ­a”) and Guillermin­a Sorribes Liotta, in her film debut, also star.

“Just Beyond” - Season 1

Discover what lies outside the comfort of your own home with “Just Beyond,” the comedy-horror anthology series premiering on Disney+ on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel of the same name by “Goosebumps” author R.L. Stine, “Just Beyond” takes viewers on a chilling, far out adventure with a new cast of characters in each of the season’s eight episodes. Delving into the supernatur­al worlds of witches, aliens, parallel universes and more, creator Seth Grahame-smith (“Dark Shadows,” 2012) explores otherworld­ly creatures that could be lurking in the dark. This anthology series stars Mckenna Grace (“Young Sheldon”), Nasim Pedrad (“Aladdin,” 2019), Leeann Ross (“Lovecraft Country”), Gabriel Bateman (“The Mosquito Coast”), Cedric Joe (“Space Jam: A New Legacy,” 2021), Riki Lindhome (“Knives Out,” 2019), Henry Thomas (“E.T. the Extraterre­strial,” 1982) and Izabela Vidovic (“Veronica Mars”), among many others.

WHAT’S NEW ON HULU “Dopesick”

Opioid addiction takes tens of thousands of American lives every year, and Hulu’s new drama miniseries tackles the topic of this decades-long epidemic headfirst. Premiering on Hulu on Wednesday, Oct. 13, “Dopesick” stars and is executive produced by Michael Keaton (“Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” 2014) and dives into harrowing stories of addiction and the actions — specifical­ly of America’s largest pharmaceut­ical companies — that led to this devastatin­g epidemic. From distressed farmers in Virginia to the halls of the United States Drug Enforcemen­t Administra­tion (DEA), this series leaves no stone unturned as it takes viewers into the epicenter of the opioid crisis. From creator Danny Strong (“Empire”), this poignant series also stars Peter Sarsgaard (“Garden State,” 2004), Will Poulter (“The Maze Runner,” 2014), John Hoogenakke­r (“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Kaitlyn Dever (“Booksmart,” 2019), Rosario Dawson (“Rent,” 2005), Michael Stuhlbarg (“The Shape of Water,” 2017), Will Chase (“Stranger Things”), Jake Mcdorman (“The Right Stuff”) and Phillipa Soo (“Hamilton,” 2020).

WHAT’S NEW ON PRIME “I Know What You Did Last Summer” - Season 1

The slasher saga continues with the new series “I Know What You Did Last Summer” making its debut on Prime on Friday, Oct. 15. A series remake of the classic 1997 horror film franchise and its 1973 source novel by Lois Duncan, this fresh rendition follows a new group of teenagers. After an accident leads to a man’s death on the night of their high school graduation, a group of friends find themselves stalked by a mysterious and terrifying killer one year later. Craig William Macneill (“Lizzie,” 2018) directs, with writing by Lana Cho (“Timeless”), Gary Tieche (“Preacher”) and Sara Goodman in her debut. Madison Iseman (“Jumanji:the Next Level,” 2019), Brianne Tju (“Light as a Feather”), Ezekiel Goodman (“Rat Bastard”) and Ashley Moore (“Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,” 2016) star in the series.
