Reddies take control early, move to 6-0

ARKADELPHI­A — Henderson State jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never relented in a 59-24 win over East Central Saturday at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.

Adam Morse contribute­d to all three of the first three scores for the Reddies (6-0), throwing passes of 19 and 17 yards to Mike Benning and L’liott Curry, respective­ly before running the ball in from the 11 with 3:11 left in the quarter. Morse finished 20-for-30 for 357 and six touchdowns while throwing just a single intercepti­on.

Curry scored two more touchdowns on a day that he made just eight catches for 169 yards while Xavier Malone had 134 yards and a score on six catches. Fredrick O’Donald led the Reddies on the ground with eight touches for 37 yards.

East Central quarterbac­k Kenny Hrncir was 19-for-38 for 270 yards and one score while throwing three picks and getting sacked three times. La’Quan Wells had three catches for 62 yards with Jayquan Lincoln catching two for 53 yards and a score, and Nemier Herod had eight catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.

HARDING 49, SOUTHERN NAZARENE 10

SEARCY — Harding University improved to 5-1 in the Great American Conference with a victory over Southern Nazarene (0-6, 0-6) at First Security Stadium in Searcy.

Blake Delacruz scored two rushing touchdowns to lead Harding, which posted 310 of its 415 yards on the ground.

Preston Paden passed for 105 yards and a touchdown for the Bisons.

Harding led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, 28-3 at halftime and 42-10 after three quarters.

OBU 30, SWOSU 10

WEATHERFOR­D, Okla. — Kendel Givens had three rushing touchdowns to lead Ouachita Baptist University (5-1, 5-1 GAC) past Southweste­rn Oklahoma State (0-6, 0-6) at Flex Chem

Givens, who finished with 109 yards on 18 carries, scored on runs of 27, 11 and 5 yards for the Tigers. TJ Cole recorded 193 yards on 28 carries to give the Tigers two 100-yard rushers.

Of the Tigers’ 413 yards, 345 came on the ground.

OBU led 14-10 at halftime and increased its lead to 23-10 in the third quarter on Grant Allen’s 26-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Swoboda and a safety recorded by Gregory Junior. Givens’ third touchdown of the game, this one a 5-yard run, helped set the final score.

SEOSU 38, SAU 24

MAGNOLIA — Southern Arkansas University (2-4, 2-4 GAC) lost its fourth consecutiv­e game, falling to Southeaste­rn Oklahoma State (5-1, 5-1) at Wilkins Stadium in Magnolia.

Micah Small led the Muleriders, hauling in 7 passes for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. Small caught scoring passes of 37 and 39 yards — both in the second half — from Hayden Mallory.

Mallory finished 17-of-32 passing for 276 yards with 2 touchdowns and an intercepti­on.

Daulton Hatley completed 19 of 30 passes for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Savage Storm, who outgained the Muleriders 457-372.

UAM 42, NWOSU 23

ADA, Okla. — Demilon Brown finished with 256 yards and 4 touchdowns offensivel­y as the University of Arkansas at Monticello (4-2, 4-2 GAC) earned a victory over Northweste­rn Oklahoma State (0-6, 0-6) at Ranger Field in Alva, Okla.

Brown completed 13 of 23 passes for 190 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 intercepti­ons, while rushing for 66 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries for UAM.

Isaiah Cross hauled in 2 scoring passes from Brown and had 3 receptions for 81 yards.

DeAndre Washington also caught a touchdown pass for the Boll Weevils, who used a 21-point second-quarter to lead 28-17 at halftime.
