Local teen arrested after allegedly pointing rifle at another vehicle

- STEVEN MROSS

A local teen was arrested on felony charges Monday evening shortly after allegedly pointing a rifle at two other males in another vehicle during a rolling disturbance.

Donovan Parker Brown, 18, who lists a San Felipe Road address, was taken into custody shortly before 6 p.m. and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, each punishable by up to six years in prison.

Brown remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of a $10,000 bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court. Brown was previously arrested on Nov. 1 on a felony charge of breaking or entering involving a break-in to a vehicle and was released on a $1,500 bond on Nov. 14. He is set to be arraigned in Garland County Circuit Court on that charge on Jan. 11 and his bond from that charge was revoked.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 5:30 p.m., Hot Springs police were contacted by a juvenile male regarding a disturbance that reportedly began in the 600 block of Garland Avenue.

The male told officers he and another male, 18, were being followed by a purple Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a known suspect, 18, and occupied by another known suspect, identified as Brown.

The male told police one of the occupants was displaying a firearm. He said the disturbance continued until they stopped in the 1400 block of Higdon Ferry Road where officers detained Brown and the driver of the Tahoe.

Brown was reportedly identified by the victims as the person they had seen pointing a rifle at them as they fled and the other male was identified as the driver. Both Brown and the driver were taken into custody, but as of Tuesday, no charges had been filed against the driver in the incident.

During a search of the Tahoe, officers located an Anderson AM-15 rifle in plain view.

During an interview after being read his rights, Brown reportedly stated he and the driver were going to meet the juvenile male at the parking deck “to fight him.” When they arrived, the juvenile male and the other occupant fled in their vehicle so he and the driver followed them until they were stopped and detained by police.
