A pregnant local woman was arrested on a felony battery warrant Wednesday morning after allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend in the hand and leg during an altercation early Tuesday.

Monica Diane Lister, 31, of 124 Dawer St., who was in custody after her arrest Tuesday morning for violating her probation from a previous felony conviction, was served with the warrant around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday and charged with second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Lister was being held on a zero bond and is set to appear on Dec. 29 in Garland County District Court.

She was convicted on April 19 of a felony count of aggravated assault on a family or household member and sentenced to six years’ supervised probation.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 4 a.m.

Tuesday, Hot Springs police were dispatched to Lister’s apartment building regarding a stabbing and located a male victim with a laceration to his left hand and left leg.

Upon further investigation, it was determined the man and Lister had gotten into an argument in the hallway. The man stated he refused to leave, which angered Lister, so she went back inside her apartment and returned with a knife in her hand.

The man said he asked Lister if she was going to stab him and she allegedly said, “Yeah, I’m going to cut you.” He said she pushed forward with the knife and stabbed him in the thigh.

She then proceeded to swipe the knife toward him, but he blocked it with his left hand causing him to be cut again. He finally grabbed both Lister’s arms and pinned her to the ground until police arrived.

The victim told police he and Lister had previously dated and she claims he is the father of her unborn child. Lister was initially taken to a local hospital to be evaluated but was later taken into custody on the probation violation.
