BOSSIER CITY, La. — Funeral services for Joseph Ronald Efferson, 86, will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at Rose-neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, La. Interment will follow at Roseneath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Road, Bossier City, La.

Joseph was born Nov. 16, 1935, in Denham Springs, La., to William A. Efferson and Laura Dupuy Efferson, and passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, in Bossier City, La.

Joe Efferson went to college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and fell in love with Azelia, who he married and had six children. After graduating from LSU, he spent most of his career working for Western Electric and AT&T until he retired. As an engineer, he worked on the developmen­t and manufactur­ing of several home phones and commercial pay phones which we all used way before cellphones. He loved to help people and spent time with Knights of Columbus, Optimist Club and working at Good Samaritan in Hot Springs Village for 20 years.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William A. Efferson Jr. and wife, Margaret; sister, Beverly Morals and husband, Prot.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Azelia Pecquet Efferson; sons, Douglas Efferson and wife, Vanessa, Joseph Efferson Jr. and wife, Cindy; daughters, Catherine Beaird and husband, Rex, Carla Plunkett and husband, James, Cindy Cipriano and husband, Francisco, Phyllis Thurman and husband David; brother Rusty Efferson and wife, Mavis.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation may be made to The Knights of Columbus (Hot Springs Village Knights of Columbus, No. 2316) 295 Balearic Road, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909.
