Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal (“The Dark Knight,” 2008) steps into her big-screen writing and directing debut in impressive fashion with the critically acclaimed drama film “The Lost Daughter,” available to stream on Netflix beginning Friday, Dec. 31. The story follows Leda, played by Olivia Colman (“The Favourite,” 2018), a middle-age divorcée who is devoted to her work and her two children.away on a beach holiday in Italy, Leda is enjoying her break from life until a large and brash family arrives, complete with small children in tow.their presence, completely impossible to ignore, forces Olivia to confront a set of demons from her own past and turns her peaceful getaway into a distressing confrontation of her own choices made as a young mother. Based on the book of the same name by Elena Ferrante, “The Lost Daughter” also stars Dakota Johnson (“Bad Times at the El Royale,” 2018), Peter Sarsgaard (“Garden State,” 2004), Jessie Buckley (“Fargo”), Paul Mescal (“Normal People”) and Oliver Jackson-cohen (“The Invisible Man,” 2020).

Coming soon to a galaxy not so far away is the brand-new original series “The Book of Boba Fett,” premiering on Disney+ on Wednesday, Dec. 29. Whether one considers him a villain or an antihero, morally ambiguous and legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett has featured in Star Wars stories since his appearance in the original trilogy. Now, in a spinoff series of Disney and Lucasfilms’ hit show “The Mandalorian,” audiences get the chance to dig even deeper into the character’s story. Set within the timeline of “The Mandalorian,” the story follows Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison, “Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones,” 2002) as he explores the underworld with mercenary Fennec Shand (Ming-na Wen,“mulan,” 1998).As the pair return to the sands of Tattooine, they attempt to stake their claim on the lands once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate in an attempt to make a name for themselves.the show is executive produced by Robert Rodriguez (“El Mariachi,” 1992) and “The Mandalorian’s” powerhouse production team of Jon Favreau, Colin Wilson, Dave Filoni and Kathleen Kennedy.

WHAT’S NEW ON HULU “Letterkenny” - Season 10
Pitter Patter, “Letterkenny” fans — Season 10 of the hit Canadian comedy series comes to Hulu on Sunday, Dec. 26. In for more fast-talking banter, outrageously catchy slang and a whole host of oftenhilarious small-town problems, the crew from the small fictional town of Letterkenny, Ontario, is back once again. While the series follows multiple storylines, the main focus of the show rests on stoic farmer Wayne (Jared Keeso, “Elysium,” 2013) and his best friends, Daryl (Nathan Dales, “The Broken Hearts Gallery,” 2020) and Dan (K. Trevor Wilson, “Bigfoot”). At the beginning of each episode, an intro reads: “There are 5,000 people in Letterkenny. These are their problems.” So, as the boys and their friends and family continue to enjoy their rural lives in Letterkenny, there will certainly be plenty more parties, fights, relationships, hockey and, of course, beers along the way.
