BENTON — Doris Rebecca Nichols Brown passed away at her home in Benton, Ark., on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021.

Doris was born Sept. 27, 1942, to Lester Nichols and Delia Meredith Nichols in Prague, Okla. The family moved to Hot Springs in 1946. She attended Hot Springs schools and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1960.

Her first job was with the ABT Insurance Office. Later, she was employed by the U.S. Forest Service, then the Army Corps of Engineers at DeGray Lake until her retirement. Doris was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church in Benton. Activities included Bible study, singing in the church choir, traveling throughout the United States, watching sports — especially football — and playing dominoes with her group of ladies.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Mike Brown, and one stepson, Richard Brown.

Survivors include two stepsons, Todd Brown and Greg Brown, and three daughters-inlaw, Laura Brown, Lana Brown and Janet Brown. Grandchild­ren, Seth, Robin, Matt, Jacob and Luke; and great-grandchild­ren. One sister, Oleta Bright. Two nephews, Randy Bright and wife Elizabeth, Greg Bright and wife Linda. Grand-nephews and -niece, Ben, John and Beth. Several cousins and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church in Benton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sharon Missionary Baptist Church in Benton or Center Fork Baptist Church in Hot Springs.
