Betty Helen Porter, 90, of Hot Springs, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022.

She was born Jan. 19, 1931, daughter of Robert and Rosa Sanders Walker.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Newman Porter, and second husband, Bill Woodard; her parents and siblings, Ivy May, Bob Walker, Mary Howell, Elizabeth Walker, Sam Walker and Joe Walker.

She is survived by sister, Gladys Daniel; sons, Jerry (Glenda) Porter, Randy Porter; grandsons, Brian (Stephanie) Porter, David (Amy) Porter; great-grandsons, Eli Porter and Brooks Porter, and great-granddaugh­ter, Olivia Porter.

She was a Godly, praying woman who always set the example of her Christian faith. She has attended First Pentecosta­l Church, Vista Heights Baptist Church and Faith Pointe Church.

Her past included working for National Rejecter and Stoneciphe­rs gift shop, downtown Hot Springs. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing in a group that visited area nursing homes. One of her favorite songs was “Victory in Jesus.” She also enjoyed playing basketball with her grandsons.

Graveside service will 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Price Cemetery, with Brother Wayne Murphree officiatin­g, along with Brother Ronnie Vanderslic­e and Brother Wilbert Bates.

Honorary pallbearer­s are her nieces and nephews, members of first Pentecosta­l Church, Vista Heights Baptist Church and Faith Pointe Church, Area Agency on Aging and Hospice Home Care. Special thanks to Mary Ann Franklin for her helping so much.
