Hospitalizations at four-month low

- DAVID SHOWERS

Hospitalizations fell below 300 Thursday for the first time in almost four months as they continued to descend from the peak of more than 1,800 reached in late January.

The state’s infection curve rose for the first time in a week, with the rolling seven-day average of new cases rising for only the fifth time in the 53 days since the average peaked above 9,000.

Active cases reported in Garland County fell for the 19th time in 21 days, with the four deaths reported Thursday lowering the active count to 25. Active cases peaked above 1,800 in mid-January.

The four deaths raised the number reported in March to 16. Twenty-nine deaths have been reported in the county over the last three weeks.
