- STEVEN MROSS

A Mountain Pine man was arrested on multiple felony charges Tuesday after Garland County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at his residence and allegedly found two stolen antique cars.

Timothy Ray Burton Sr., 61, of 142 Redden Trail, was taken into custody at his residence around 10:30 a.m. and charged with two counts of theft of property over $5,000, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and two counts of breaking or entering, punishable by up to six years.

Burton, who is on supervised release from federal indictments in 2018, was being held on a zero bond and was set to appear Wednesday in Garland County District Court. According to court records, Burton was arrested in Garland County in 2018 on felony charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons and delivery of a counterfeit substance, but the state charges were later withdrawn and he was indicted in federal court.

He was previously convicted on March 5, 2018, in Howard County for breaking or entering and theft of property and sentenced to three years in prison, but later paroled.

According to the probable cause affidavit for Tuesday’s arrest, a search warrant was received and executed Tuesday morning at Burton’s Mountain Pine residence by Garland County sheriff’s investigators to recover a stolen antique Model T Roadster, valued at $6,000, that was reportedly stolen from a warehouse on McClendon Road.

During the execution of the search warrant, the Roadster was located on the property along with a 1921 Model T panel van, valued at $15,000. The van was determined to have also been stolen from the McClendon warehouse.

Burton was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident. When questioned later by investigators, Burton reportedly admitted he had stolen both vehicles from the warehouse and that he was alone when he committed the thefts.
