WHAT’S NEW ON NETFLIX

“Uncoupled”

It’s never too late to start fresh, just as series lead Michael (Neil Patrick Harris, “How I Met Your Mother”) finds out in the new Netflix series “Uncoupled,” premiering on the streamer Friday, July 29. Working as a successful New York real estate agent with a close group of friends and a supportive family, Michael’s life is everything he could ask for and more. But, when his partner of 17 years, Colin (Tuc Watkins, “One Life to Live”), moves out the night before his 50th birthday, Michael’s perfect life starts to crumble around him. While he learns to confront some of his worst fears — losing the person he thought was his soul mate and being a single gay may entering his 50s in the Big Apple — Michael learns how to heal and live life for himself again. Co-created by Emmy winners Jeffrey Richman (“Modern Family”) and Darren Star (“Sex and the City”), this heartfelt comedy is directed by Andrew Fleming (“Emily in Paris”). The series also stars Tisha Campbell (“Inside Job”), Brooks Ashmanskas (“Julie & Julia,” 2009), Emerson Brooks (“Queens”), Marcia Gay Harden (“The Morning Show”), Colin Hanlon (“Modern Family”), Jay Santiago (“Ghostwriter”), Jhulenty Delossantos (“Cicatrix,” 2018), Ajay Naidu (“Office Space,” 1999), Denny Dillon (“Dream On”), David A. Gregory (“Dirty Sexy Saint,” 2019) and Dan Amboyer (“Younger”).

WHAT’S NEW ON HBO MAX

“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” - Season 1

A new generation of lies is born in the HBO Max original coming-of-age drama series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” premiering its first three episodes Thursday, July 28, on the streamer. The remaining seven episodes of this “Pretty Little Liars” spinoff are slated to air Aug. 4, 11 and 18. Twenty years ago, a series of dark and tragic events nearly tore the town of Millwood apart. Now, a new group of teenage girls find themselves tormented by an assailant known only as “A,” a shadowy figure who makes them pay for the secret sin committed by their parents years before — as well as for some sins of their own. This new generation of liars may be in a new town, but they can’t escape their pasts. Based on the bestselling series of books by Sara Shepard, “Original Sin” is created for television by Roberto Aguirre-sacasa (“Riverdale”) and directed by Lisa Soper (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), Cierra Glaude (“Queen Sugar”), Maggie Kiley (“Dirty John”) and Alex Pillai (“Bridgerton”). Bailee Madison (“Good Witch”), Chandler Kinney (“Zombies 3,” 2022), Zaria (“Two Distant Strangers,” 2020), Malia Pyles (“Baskets”) and Maia Reficco (“Kally’s Mashup”) star as the new generation of liars, with Mallory Bechtel (“Hereditary,” 2018), Sharon Leal (“Supergirl”), Elena Goode (“As the World Turns”), Lea Salonga (“Mulan,” 1998), Eric Johnson (“Vikings”) and Alex Aiono (“Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.”) in supporting roles.
