-

Hot Springs native Elexus Jordan has been hired as Mid-America Science Museum’s new volunteer coordinator.

Jordan will be responsible for the recruitment and training of teen and adult volunteers. She will also serve as the liaison between volunteers and museum staff, a news release said.

Jordan graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services and a minor in Organizational Leadership. She is currently working to complete her master’s degree in Business Administration. Jordan spent 10 years traveling as an active-duty Navy spouse and is the mother of two daughters.

“I am proud to be a part of Mid-America Science Museum and to have an opportunity to serve the museum, Hot Springs, and the greater community,” Jordan said in the release.

“I hope to drive the development of the museum by ensuring that they have the resources they need to fulfill their mission. I hope to engage with youth, individuals, and organizations to inspire them to learn and grow with their community. I want individuals to know that volunteering can be a fun and rewarding experience for everyone.”

“I’m excited for Elexus to be joining our team at the museum,” Mid-America Science Museum’s CEO Diane LaFollette said in the release.

“Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do here. From helping guests to assisting with camps and presenting science shows, our volunteers are indispensable and providing them with the encouragement and support they need is an essential part of the volunteer coordinator’s job. With Elexus’ education and experience, she’s the perfect candidate to balance the communication and recruitment responsibilities of the position.”
