The CALL to hold an open house on Tuesday
The CALL of Garland and Hot Spring counties will hold a Drop-in Open House for anyone interested in fostering, adopting or volunteering to provide homes for children in foster care from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday.
The CALL Support Center at 312 W. St. Louis St. will be open and volunteers will be available to answer any questions about foster care and the ministry.
“We are so excited to share our newly opened Support Center and all that is happening with this ministry,” Tonya Ross, county coordinator for The CALL, said in a news release.
“Our need for open foster homes continues to grow and with our Support Center there is also a greater need for volunteers in several areas, so we invite those who’d like to know more to drop by and get their questions answered.”
The CALL is a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains, and supports foster and adoptive families. “As a partner with DCFS, The CALL works through local churches to provide safe and loving homes to children that have been placed in foster care.
The ministry assists foster families with items such as meals, clothing, diapers, beds, and other necessities when children are placed in their homes,” the release said.
With the opening of the Support Center in January, The CALL also provides a “warm and inviting homelike environment for family time between the biological families and their children in care.”
“This has been a wonderful partnership with DCFS staff who safely supervise these visits at our center,” Ross said, adding that it has also opened more opportunities for volunteers to be a part of the ministry.
“The Drop-in Open House will provide a chance for anyone thinking about opening their homes to foster or adopt or those interested in volunteering to get all their questions answered,” the release said.
