Village Walk for Cancer Research registration open
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Registration is underway for the 21st Annual Village Walk for Cancer Research, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 8 a.m. at Balboa Pavilion.
“This always well-attended event hopes to register 500 participants and raise $75,000 in support of cancer research. This year, VWFCR is focusing on melanoma. Skin cancers are the most common cancers in the United States, and melanoma is the most serious and life-threatening,” a news release said.
The honoree this year is Jann Grace, and the Walk is honoring the memory of Anne Kasten. Visit http:// www.walkforcancerresearch. org for more information.
Registration forms are available at KVRE, Village Voice, Clampit’s Country Kitchen, Arvest Bank on Highway 7 and RE/MAX of HSV and on the website.
“We also welcome corporate and individual sponsors. And as is our custom, you will receive a complimentary T-shirt with your registration, and can honor or remember your friends and relatives who have faced the challenges of cancer by an extra donation, enabling their name to be printed on the back of all T-shirts,” the release said.
Many Hot Springs Village churches will be holding registration days; check with the church offices for dates and times.
“August is the best month to register and take advantage of the bargain price of $30 through Aug. 26, with a price of $35 afterward. You are welcome to register up to and even on Walk Day. But please take advantage of early registration,” the release said.
“We welcome gratefully participants from outside Hot Springs Village. If you register for the Walk please remember to bring your portion of the registration form with you to gain access through our HSV gates on walk day.”
The Village Walk for Cancer Research is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which raises money in support of cancer research throughout the year. “Every dollar we raise stays right here in central Arkansas,” the release said.
Contributions may also be made to an endowment with the HSV Community Foundation, at http://www.arcf.org/affiliates/hot-springs-village/.
