Jackson House Crisis Intervention Inc., entering its 47th year, continues with the pandemic changes to our service delivery, meeting needs in positive ways for everyone. Jackson House is known for its prudent assistance with available resources.

The staff includes only five full-time employees and six part-time employees.

During 2022, over 500 volunteers contributed more than 32,022 hours. With additional support from community organizations, churches and individuals, it was able to provide more than 87,000 services (including lunches, groceries, clothing and other emergency aid) to those in crisis.

“It is a privilege for all of us to work together to help ease community suffering,” says Executive Director Janie Smith.

“Many of our 25,000-plus clients are working families and retirees who are experiencing emergency crisis needs. The Census Bureau states that one in three Arkansans live with food insecurity. According to the AARP, 6 million seniors are included in these statistics. Additionally, every 49 minutes a child is born into poverty in Arkansas. We receive far more requests for services than our resources or the resources of other community agencies can meet,” she said.

During 2022, Jackson House’s food pantry distributed more than 1.35 million pounds of groceries to the hungry; its Thrift store gave away more than $177,000 in value of clothes and household items, the Christmas Toy Program served a new record of over 1,404 children with toys, toiletry and warmth items, food, books and other necessities. The six-day-a-week Hunger No More Lunch Program served 45,385 meals. The lunch program and pantry programs have generously been donated items by more than 72 churches, restaurants, caterers, grocers and others to reach those in need.

“We wish to thank everyone for their caring help in the past, as we also urge you to remember us now as the requests for crisis services continue. Your donations make a difference. A difference of being warm rather than cold, fed rather than hungry, clothed and housed rather than otherwise.

“Everyone counts, each one hurts and needs our attention.”
