Ken Tonseth, 77, of Hot Springs, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at his home surrounded in love by his family.

He was born Sept. 12, 1945, in Monterey Park, Calif., to the late Karsten Waldemar and Dorthea Rosalea Offenstein Tonseth. Ken served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he met his wife of 54 years, Patsy. Ken worked as an engineer at Hughes Aerospace while in California. In the early 1980s, the family moved to Hot Spring, Ark., where he worked for the next 20 years at USNR designing equipment for the lumber industry. Ken was a Boy Scout Troop 2 Assistant Scout Master for many years.

Ken loved the lake and outdoors and spending time fishing on the boat with his children and grandchild­ren.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Cox; nephews, Mark Klump and Lorne Clark; mother-in-law, Helen Whitley; three brothers-in-law, Danny Whitley, Sonny Rice and Dean Clark.

Ken is survived by his wife, whom he married on April 26, 1969, Patsy Whitley Tonseth; Jennifer Tonseth, of Hot Springs, Melissa Tonseth, of Hot Springs, Matthew Tonseth (Erin), of Cincinnati, Ohio. Grandchild­ren: Ian Cole, Emma Cole, Caitlyn Tonseth, Owen Tonseth and Bryson Tonseth. Brothers: Ralph Tonseth (Carol), of California, Phil Tonseth, of Arizona and Brian Tonseth (Teresa), of California; sister, Patricia Tatum, of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at Regency Funeral Home, with Brother Mark Clark officiatin­g. Honorary pallbearer­s are Denver Howard, Eric Cox, Steven Cox, Jeff Tonseth, Tommy Klump, John Rice, Eric Whitley and Brad Whitley, as well as Rock Steady Boxing at First Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Genesis Cancer Center, Boy Scout Troop 2, Dr. Martin Johnson and Dr. Miller.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rock Steady Boxing First Baptist Church Hot Springs.
