EARTH ANGEL

-

Recycling is “magical,” as trash is transformed into reusable materials instead of heading for a landfill, according to the Hot Springs Solid Waste Department.

“For those who have yet to try recycling, it can be quite fun and fulfilling. All you need to do is ‘think outside the trash’ and you can join the city’s Earth Angels in helping the environment,” it says.

Here are some recycling facts to help see waste in a new light:

• Recycling one glass bottle can save enough energy to operate a 100-watt light bulb for three hours.

• Recycling one aluminum container can save enough energy to power a television for three hours.

• Every year, enough office paper is thrown away in America to build a 12-foot high wall from Seattle to New York.

• Every hour, 2.5 million plastic bottles are thrown away in America.

• Every year, 25 million trees would be saved if Americans would recycle every page of a newspaper.
