Man charged for allegedly hitting another man in face with a brick
A reportedly homeless man was arrested Thursday on a felony battery warrant stemming from allegations he attacked a man Monday evening, hitting him in the face with a brick, resulting in severe facial injuries and a broken jaw.
Randell Siscero Johnson, 32, who listed “city streets” as his address, was taken into custody around 2 p.m. in the 100 block of Milk Lane on the warrant for first-degree battery, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Johnson was released later that day on a $100,000 bond and is set to appear April 4 in Garland County District Court. According to court records, Johnson was convicted on Nov. 18, 2013, of possession of cocaine with purpose to deliver and sentenced to six years in prison.
According to the probable cause affidavit, around 6 p.m. Monday, Hot Springs police responded to the 600 block of Second Street regarding a battery that had just occurred.
They made contact with a man, 31, who was “bleeding heavily from his mouth.” The man was able to tell officers he was at the Take 5 Car Wash, 1742 Albert Pike Road, sitting in the passenger seat of a friend’s car when a known suspect, identified as Johnson, approached him.
The man alleges Johnson struck him in the face with a brick and officers noted he had a “severe facial injury” and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. It was later determined he had a broken jaw that would need surgery to be repaired and possibly involve the removal of his teeth.
Video evidence was obtained from the car wash that reportedly showed what was believed to be a light-colored Ford Fusion parked on the driver’s side of the white SUV the victim was sitting in.
A Black male that matches Johnson’s description exited the driver’s seat of the Fusion and approached the passenger side of the SUV where the victim was sitting and “there appears to be some type of altercation,” the affidavit said, but the vehicle was blocking the camera view.
On Thursday, Detective Mark Fallis viewed Johnson’s Facebook account, which reportedly showed a photo of him that was taken next to a car that matched the description of the Fusion seen in the surveillance video.
