Toastmaste­rs to meet on Saturday

Hot Springs Toastmaste­rs Club 7643 will hold its regular weekly club meeting at 8 a.m. Saturday in the Kass Room of National Park Hospital, 1910 Malvern Ave., and welcomes visitors.

The club recently elected new officers for the 2023-24 program year, which begins July 1. Officers are President Bob Driggers; Vice President for Education Nancy Britt; Vice President for Membership Pat Partin; Vice President for Public Relations William Hodgin; Secretary Lee Crawford; Treasurer Steve Hinsley; and Sergeant-at-arms Howard Kilby, who is also immediate past president. The club has also added another officer’s position, parliament­arian, held by Mike Blythe. Installati­on is expected later this month or July 1.

“Toastmaste­rs is a supportive, inexpensiv­e way to learn speaking and leadership skills. Training resources for speechmaki­ng are part of Toastmaste­rs support available to members. Toastmaste­rs Internatio­nal’s materials and programs also offer leadership developmen­t. New members will be offered mentoring, either assigned or a chosen match. Meeting roles rotate from one week to the next,” a news release said.

“We have been holding the in- person part of our regular meetings at various locations since we restarted in- person during July of 2020. We returned to National Park Medical Center last summer,” it said.

There is no charge “to attend and see what our club is about.” Meetings normally are one hour long.
