Probationer faces felony charges after allegedly being found with drugs at detention center
A local probationer arrested Tuesday on a misdemeanor warrant was soon facing felony charges after she was allegedly found to have drugs and paraphernalia hidden on her at the Garland County Detention Center.
Rachael Renee “Rochelle” Crawford, 27, who lists a Hallman Street address, was taken into custody shortly before 1 p.m. on a warrant for failure to appear and later charged with furnishing, possessing or using prohibited articles and possession of a controlled substance, meth, both felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and having no or an expired driver’s license.
Crawford, who was also cited for having no liability insurance, was later released on a $8,000 bond and is set to appear July 11 in Garland County District Court. According to court records, she pleaded guilty on April 16, 2019, to felony counts of breaking or entering and theft of property and was sentenced to five years’ supervised probation.
According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 12:30 p.m., Hot Springs police Officer Trey Smith made a traffic stop on a white Volkswagen Jetta in the 3000 block of Central Avenue after a computer check showed the vehicle listed no insurance on file.
He made contact with the driver, identified as Crawford, and a computer check showed she had a warrant for failure to appear, so she was taken into custody and transported to the detention center.
Once there, Crawford reportedly advised deputies she had contraband hidden in her privates. A search reportedly uncovered a bag with 5.7 grams of what later tested positive for meth and three glass pipes with residue in them resulting in the additional felony charges.
