Next Hot Springs Concert Band concert ‘Out of this World’
Having just returned from a “trip out to the Wild West” at its June 12 concert, the Hot Springs Concert Band is now preparing for a much longer journey with its next performance, “Out of This World.”
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Monday. The performance is free of charge, but anyone who wants to donate to the band’s operating expenses will have the opportunity to do so.
“Perhaps you’ve experienced such a journey in times past through movies, television, music, and maybe just a little imagination,” a news release said.
“You will be taken from ‘Among the Clouds’ to ‘Beyond the Higher Skies,’ ‘Starward,’ and to other musical journeys such as ‘Blue Moon,’ ‘In the Shining of the Stars,’ ‘Nightflight,’ ‘Voices of the Sky,’ and more,” it said.
“For about an hour and a half, under the air conditioning and comfortable seating of the Fountain Lake School Auditorium, you can escape not only the seasonal hot weather but also temporarily trade the cares and distractions of this old crazy world for a different kind of world where your imagination and our music can take you. Whether old memories are revived, or new ones are made, it will be a journey well worth your time and a short drive,” the release said.
The band has two additional concerts scheduled as part of its 2023 Summer Concert Series, “Celtic Celebration” on Monday, July 10, and “Animal Band” on Monday, July 24. Both concerts will begin at 7 p.m. at the Fountain Lake School Auditorium.
“You are also encouraged to visit the band website at hotspringsband.org to learn more about the band and how for the past 48 years it has contributed to preserving and advancing America’s rich musical heritage and serving as one of our area’s most active and enduring artistic institutions,” the release said.
