Toastmasters meet Saturday; welcomes longtime member
Hot Springs Toastmasters Club No. 7643 will meet from 8-9 a.m. Saturday at National Park Medical Center, 1910 Malvern Ave., in the Kass Room.
The club is welcoming back Patrick Whalen, a longtime toastmaster member. “Not only is Patrick a seasoned member, prior to his hiatus, he was our Zoom Information Technologies (IT) specialist. We do have hybrid meetings, meaning members or guests can attend the club online. It was an impressive production every week. As grammarian and Ah counter, Patrick catches every ‘ah,’ ‘um,’ restart, and filler word. This is an important element in Toastmasters. An honest assessment produces better quality speakers. When filling the roles of Toastmaster of the day or General evaluator, Patrick always leads the meetings with an aura of professionalism ensuring the meetings run smoothly, giving club 7643 a distinct appeal to members and guests alike,” a news release said.
Toastmasters International is a worldwide organization with charter clubs in most areas of the country. “Toastmasters is designed to be a place where good people come to practice public speaking and leadership skills. Every week, members and guests encouragingly and constructively support one another in a friendly, inviting atmosphere,” the release said.
