Lions play Beavers in Class 3A-4 clash

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

JESSIEVILLE — After a tough 46-6 loss on the road at Bismarck, Jessieville faces another tough task tonight against Glen Rose.

Kicking off from Phillips Field at 7 p.m., Jessieville takes on the challenge of a Beaver team that made it to the third round of the Class 3A playoffs last season.

Glen Rose is 2-2 this year, most recently coming off a 56-0 win over Paris and a 38-7 victory at Fordyce. The Beavers started the year with a tight 39-38 loss against Crossett and then fell to defending Class 4A state champion Malvern 44-13.

Jessieville is also 2-2 this year with wins over Atkins and Mount Ida.

LAKESIDE AIMS FOR ANOTHER CONFERENCE WIN

MAGNOLIA — The Rams got right back on track with a 34-20 win over Camden Fairview to open the conference season, and now Lakeside looks to continue that momentum on the road against Magnolia tonight at 7.

Sitting at 4-1 on the season, Lakeside was so close to a perfect start to the year. However, a failed two-point conversion attempt meant the Rams lost to Malvern 35-34 Sept. 8.

The Rams didn’t let the loss linger long, and first-year head coach Garren Rockwell’s team bounced back with the win over the Cardinals last week.

Lakeside travels to take on a Magnolia team that is 2-2 on the season. The Panthers have lost two games in a row, including a 28-7 defeat to Texarkana and a 35-0 loss to Wynee.

Magnolia opened the season with a 48-20 win at Nashville and a 45-17 win at Crossett.

FOUNTAIN LAKE TRAVELS TO GENOA CENTRAL

TEXARKANA — Fountain Lake lost 26-0 to defending state champion Mountain View last week and now has to hit the road to take on Genoa Central tonight at 7.

The Dragons are 2-1 this season with a 44-22 win over Parkers Chapel and a 22-14 win over

Woodlawn. Genoa Central lost a 14-12 contest against Spring Hill.

The Cobras are playing with an injury-depleted roster, including Fountain Lake’s starting and backup quarterbacks. Having to change the offensive system after the loss of both quarterbacks, the Cobra offense has struggled in a 1-3 start to the year.
