Earth Angel

-

From 30-35 million natural Christmas trees are sold in North America every year. For every Christmas tree harvested, up to three seedlings are planted in its place during the following spring. Don’t forget to recycle natural Christmas trees — there are several ways to recycle them, once the decorations are removed. One method is to cut the trees into 3-foot lengths, or shorter, and place the pieces on the curbside for free collection on regular recycling days. Customers who don’t want to cut up the trees can call the Clean, Attractive Property Services, or C.A.P.S., program at 501-321-6921 to schedule a pickup.

Another option is to bring the trees to the Solid Waste Department’s Recycling Drop-Off Center at the corner of Valley and Runyon streets. From there, individuals can give these trees a second life by picking them up to use for wildlife habitats. Any tree not picked up will be recycled into mulch at the Compost Facility. For more information about the Earth Angel Recycling program, call the Solid Waste Department at 501-321-6911. Registration for the Earth Angel Recycling Program is also available online at http://www.cityhs.net/recycle-registration.
