DEE A. PATTERSON

Dee A. Patterson was born on Jan. 18, 1929, in Pine Bluff, Ark. He passed away on April 27, 2024, in Waldron, Ark.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for his entire career. He was married to the love of his life, Doris Sloan Patterson, who preceded him in death in 2017. He was an avid gardener. He provided the roses for the wedding of his niece, Brenda. He loved to travel, having spent a decade touring all 50 United States, Canada and Mexico with his wife after retirement. D.A. was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ. After settling in Hot Springs, he was a member of the Piney Baptist Church. He supported numerous charities, including the Shriners, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, In Touch Ministries, and The Internatio­nal Fellowship of Christians and Jews.

D.A. is survived by his brother, James Patterson of Pine Bluff. He is also survived by many nieces, Brenda Branch (Terry Joe), Liska Yeager (Tony), Marie Vetsch (Craig), Betty Jo Dickey (John), Janet Smith (Nolan) and Vickie DeLaughter (Steve). His surviving nephews include, Warren Stacks (Kelly), Terry Stacks (Alison) and Wayne Sloan (Anna). Mr. Patterson also leaves many great-nieces and -nephews whom he dearly loved.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 1, at Oak Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Murphy officiatin­g. Pallbearer­s include Warren Stacks, Terry Stacks, Terry Joe Branch, Joey Branch and Brian Branch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners or The Internatio­nal Fellowship of Christians and Jews at their respective websites.

JOHN H. WILLIAMS

John Harold Williams, 74, of Hot Springs, Ark., peacefully transition­ed to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at CHI hospital, Hot Springs, Ark.

He was born on June 7, 1949, at Alice Eve Memorial in Hot Springs to Willie Alexander and Estella Jones Williams.

Preceding John in death are his parents, his beloved son, John L. Williams, sister, Martha (Julius) Walker, nephew, Timothy Guin, and son-inlaw, Robert Jackson Jr.

John, a proud Hot Springs High School graduate, dutifully served in the United States Army starting on Sept. 3, 1969. While serving, he was a member of the Co B 15th Med Bn 1st Cav division and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, and he demonstrat­ed exceptiona­l marksmansh­ip as a sharpshoot­er with the rifle M-14 and an expert with the rifle M-16. After being honorably discharged on Oct. 1, 1971, he joined the Garland County Road Department in April 1984, where he devoted over 30 years of hard work until March 2014, with a notable tenure in the sign department. Beyond his profession­al duties, John’s passion for woodworkin­g brought joy to all who encountere­d his creations. He also found fulfillmen­t in sewing, hunting and fishing, and even pursued his love for music as a DJ, known affectiona­tely by his CB name, Papa Bear. As an Olive Branch Lodge No. 5 member since December 1979, John embodied commitment and camaraderi­e. Join us in celebratin­g the legacy of Butch.

John’s faith journey began at an early age under the guidance of the Rev. James Lambert Sr. at Nazarene Baptist Church.

John left to cherish his memory his best friend, Ruby Williams; daughters, Rachael Williams, Flolesia Jackson and Brenda Williams; son, Venson Ferguson; grandson, Robert (Jessica) Jackson III; and Ajaye Perkins. Granddaugh­ter, Racquel Jackson; great-granddaugh­ters, Naomi Pearson Jackson and Ay’Vah Jackson; great-grandsons, Jeremiah Braggs Perkins and Robert Jackson IV; sister, Betty Guinn; brother, Willie Williams; five nieces, two nephews, a host of brothers- and sisters-in-laws, cousins, family and his buddy, Willie McGraw.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 4, 2024, with visitation starting one hour prior at Nazarene Baptist Church, 220 Silver St., Hot Springs, AR 71901.

Elizabeth Turner, 77, of Hot Springs, Ark., transition­ed on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
