Arrieta snags league-high 19th victory
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jake Arrieta pitched eight strong innings for his major league-leading 19th win, and Starlin Castro homered to lead Chicago past Philadelphia 5-1 in the first game of a doubleheader.
In the second game, Kyle Schwarber homered twice to lead the Cubs in a sweep of the doubleheader, 7-3.
ROCKIES 4, MARINERS 2 SEATTLE (AP) — Dustin Garneau snapped a scoreless tie with a three-run homer in the seventh and Chad Bettis pitched three-hit ball over seven innings, leading the Colorado Rockies to a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.
