A domestic violence dispute between brothers Thursday ended with the older one stabbed and rushed to Henry Mayo Newhall, emergency response officials said.

The dispute also involved the older brother’s girlfriend, who was perceived by the younger brother to be a domestic abuse victim, said Lt. Bryan Aguilera of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“This looks like a domestic violence situation,” he said.

The stabbing took place at a residence in the 28000 block of Cascade Road near Polson Lane in Castaic shortly before 12:20 p.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Richard Licon said Thursday.

According to Aguilera, the younger brother, a juvenile, came to the defense of a woman identified as his older brother’s girlfriend who was allegedly being assaulted.

“When the domestic violence was happening, the juvenile intervened,” Aguilera said, identifying the juvenile as having stabbed his older brother.

The older sibling, an adult who suffered a stab wound and was taken to the hospital, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, he said.

“It appears the injuries are not life-threatening,” he said.

No charges were filed against the younger sibling, Aguilera said.
