Crossing arms go haywire in Newhall
Four railroad crossing arms malfunctioned at three intersections in Newhall Sunday night, a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station official said.
“The railroad crossing gates went down at 10 p.m. (Sunday),” said Lt. Rob Hahnlein with the Sheriff’s Station.
The crossing arms at the intersections of Newhall Avenue, 13th Street and Market Street on Railroad Avenue were all impacted at the same time.
Trains were advised to stop and proceed with caution at the intersections while they were being repaired. The malfunctions caused no rail delays.
Mechanics worked on the arms and had them up and running in about an hour, Hahnlein said.
