Martin Douglas Balogh
1954-2017
Martin Douglas Balogh, 62, of Santa Clarita, CA passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. He was born August 25, 1954.
Martin moved with his family from his birthplace in Inglewood, CA to Canoga Park when he was a child. There he attended El Camino Real HS where he was on the swim team, a drummer in the marching band and editor of the yearbook. He later attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Art. At Pepperdine, he met his future wife whom he married at the Stauffer chapel following graduation.
Together they raised a family with their daughter and son, settling in Santa Clarita, CA. Martin built a career in banking, taking positions at Bank of America, Santa Clarita National and Washington Mutual, establishing life-long friendships along the way.
Martin was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with his entire family, celebrating the births of his grandchildren, playing his favorite classic rock songs on the guitar, visiting Las Vegas, NV with his brothers, seeing comedy shows with friends, and sharing stories with his neighbors. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Martin is survived by his two children, three grandchildren, stepmother, two brothers and former spouse.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Santa Clarita, CA followed by a private family burial service. Donations to The John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health in Martin’s memo (johnritterfoundation.org/).
