The Vikings bounced back in a big way Thursday after a two-game loss to West Ranch on Tuesday, shutting out Canyon, 18-0.

“I think the kids were still feeling the effects of that loss yesterday, just because it was so close and West Ranch has such a good team,” Valencia coach Annie Kellogg said. “But they were in much better spirits today and I think it showed out there. Very impressive performance.”

Amanda Tabanera swept all three of her games (60, 6-0, 6-0) while Jaclyn Wosk won her matches 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.

On the doubles side, Taylor Cohen and Nicole Stefani swept their three game.

The closest game of the day was a 7-5 win by Ashley Villarta over Canyon’s Amber Kashay.

The Vikings (4-1) travel to Hart next Thursday while Canyon hosts Saugus.

Shaira Busnawi also had a dominant performance (6-1, 6-2, 6-1) after going winless against Arcadia on Wednesday. Standout Jordyn McBride didn’t take part in Thursday’s match.

“This is a very strong West Ranch team and they were missing a couple of key players,” Saugus (2-3 Foothill League) coach Ken Jeffris said. “... Today was a learning experience and they all got just a little better today.”

The Wildcats (5-0) doubles team of Chase Eisenberg and Dani Hettinger won their three games, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1. They take on Cresecnta Valley in nonleague action Wednesday before traveling to Golden Valley on Thursday.
