Woman accused in stabbing death heads to preliminary hearing
A Canyon Country woman accused of stabbing another woman to death has been ordered to appear back in court next month to set a date for a preliminary hearing.
Pamela Michelle Walker, 34, appeared Thursday in San Fernando Superior Court where she was told to return to court on Oct. 19, at which time a date is expected to be set for a preliminary hearing, Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office told The Signal Thursday.
During that hearing, prosecutors will present evidence in the case, and the defense can respond, after which the judge will decide if the case should go to trial.
Walker is accused of killing her longtime friend, 46-year-old Christine Diane Mcqueen, also of Canyon Country, who died of a lethal knife wound.
She was arrested shortly before 8 p.m. on Apr. 8, by deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
She remains in custody at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, with bail set at $1 million.
Deputies responded to an incident on the 18700 block of Vista Del Canon near Sierra Highway and Via Princessa.
When they arrived, they found the body of a deceased woman inside the residence after breaking down the door with a battering ram.
Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau were called to investigate the case. Detectives Theodor Baljet and Troy Ewing were assigned to the case.
