Knights put up fight; Warriors keep up offense

Trinity Classical Academy lost its Friday night road game to the Carpinteri­a Warriors.

The Warriors got on the board early in the game with a 25-yard field goal on their first offensive series.

Warrior Jacob Macias scored twice, first in the first quarter, later rushing in a 65-yard touchdown in the second.

The Knights came out strong during the second half, as quarterbac­k Phineas Yi ran the ball twice to get the team within scoring position.

Yi completed a pass to wide receiver Carson Campuzano for the Knights first touchdown.

The Warriors answered back in the third with a touchdown of their own.

Knights quarterbac­k Rick Roberts put on a strong effort in the fourth quarter, throwing three consecutiv­e first downs, and ending the night with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Will Howell.

The Knights are 2-5 overall and play the Polytechni­c Panthers on Oct. 19.

NBA

The Lakers beat the Clippers 111-104 on Friday night at Staples Center.

Brook Lopez led the Lakers with 16 points, Brandon Ingram had 15 and Julius Randle added 15 off the bench, while also adding seven rebounds.

The Clippers’ Tyrone Wallace scored 23 points and Jawun Evans scored 22.

College football

Cal, Washington State

As of the Signal’s press deadline, the Golden Bears led the Cougars 30-3 with seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Cal quarterbac­k Ross Bowers completed 20 of 36 passes for 251 yards and one touchdown and rushed for another score.

Bears running back Vic Enwere rushed for 102 yards and one touchdown.
