West Ranch girls golf’s playoff journey as a team came to a close on Thursday at River Ridge Golf Club at the CIFSS SCGA Team Qualifier, but the postseason continues for one Wildcat as an individual.

The Cats finished in seventh as a team, but needed to end the day in the Top 4 to continue to the next round.

Zoe Campos, however, finished the day 1-over 73 and was one of 28 golfers to advance out of the CIF-SS Finals and into the CIF/SCGA Southern State Regional Championship.

“That was really my goal today,” Campos said. “…I’m really happy that I made it to the next phase.”

Campos said that she struggled with her putting, but hit the majority of the greens and excelled in her approach shots.

She didn’t have the best game mentally at the start of the day, but persisted, thanks to her extensive experience at previous tournaments.

“I always know that having controlling your emotions will always briny out to the next level,” Campos said. “…I

knew I could still finish strong because even in the beginning I know that it’s just the start and the start doesn’t really matter. It’s how you finish.”

Noelle Song also represented West Ranch as an individual, but will not be moving on with Campos. Song carded a 9-over to close out her junior campaign.

“It was a really great season his year and I’m so glad that I was able to make it to this stage to and I think it really motivates me to progress farther and possibly (to stage) three for next year when I’m a senior,” Song said.

Campos will next play at the CIF/SCGA Southern State Regional Championship Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside on Thursday, Nov. 9.
