A Stevenson Ranch man was killed in a traffic collision on The Old Road Tuesday morning.

California Highway Patrol officers identified the victim as 29-year-old Timothy Wise.

Shortly after 6 a.m., the Los Angeles Communication Center began receiving 911 calls reporting a collision involving a big rig and on The Old Road, south of Weldon Canyon, CHP Officer Josh Greengard said in a news release.

Wise was driving a 2017 Infiniti Q60 southbound on The Old Road, approaching a 3-axle Freightliner truck, Greengard said.

The driver of the big rig, identified as Lancaster resident Willie Richardson Jr., was backing the truck in a southeasterly direction, attempting to parallel park the truck on the east side of The Old Road.

Preliminary reports show Wise was traveling at a high rate of speed before impact and the front of his car collided with the front of the big rig, Greengard said.

After the collision, lifesaving measures were performed by CHP officers and paramedics of the Los Angeles County Fire Department on Wise, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Richardson suffered minor injuries and was taken by paramedics to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

The crash caused a Sig Alert to be issued for The Old Road between Sierra Highway and Calgrove Boulevard at 6:42 a.m. jholt@signalscv.com 661-287-5527
