Today is Wednesday, November 22, the 326th day of 2017 and the 62nd day of autumn.

On this date in the SCV: In 1945, The Signal reported that the blitzkrieg, which the California Highway Patrol had been conducting against overloaded trucks on the highways of Soledad township, reached a climax when a huge highway juggernaut owned by a creamery in Twin Falls, Idaho, and loaded with 97,300 pounds of cheese was flagged down. Placed upon the scales at the C.H.P. the huge vehicle, a Kenworthy three-axle truck towing a Freuhauf three-axle trailer, was found to be not only 10,000 pounds overweight, but five feet over length, according to the formulas laid down by the California vehicle code. It was the biggest truck ever weighed in at the local station.
