Santa Clarita ranked among best locations to do business

-

The 2017 KosmontRose Institute Cost of Doing Business Survey, released Monday, was full of good news for Santa Clarita.

The third largest city in Los Angeles County was once again ranked among the best locations for doing business in Southern California, outpacing the likes of Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena and Los Angeles, according to a city-issued news release.

The annual survey, which ranks cities based on municipal and county taxes, fees and other demographics, divides entrants into five groups: Very Low Cost, Low Cost, Average Cost, High Cost and Very High Cost.

“Santa Clarita was recognized as a Low Cost city due to its low property tax rates, no utility tax and several other business benefits in comparison to neighboring cities,” the release reads.

The city also touted its recent attraction of top retailers and restaurants, such as The Cheesecake Factory, Nordstrom Rack, Saddle Ranch Chop House and Urban Home, as well as ongoing hometo-office projects at Vista Canyon and Needham Ranch.

The Kosmont-Rose Institute survey, conducted annually since 1995, is a product of a partnership between Kosmont Companies of Los Angeles and The Rose Institute of State and Local Government at Claremont McKenna College.

The survey grades the cost of doing business across the western United States, including California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.
