SCCS girls beat Trinity

Ellyanna Edwards notched a hat trick as SCCS closed out the regular season second in the Heritage League standings to secure an automatic playoff bid.

Kalona Marr had two goals and two assists and Sydney Boswell added two goals as well.

The Cardinals (12-4, 10-2) find out Monday where they’ll be seeded in the CIF-Southern Section Division 6 tournament. The Knights didn’t finish in the top three of the Heritage League and will wait to see if they’ve earned an at-large berth.

Tim Soares led the Mustangs with 22 points as they won their 23rd consecutiv­e game. Hansel Atencia had 14 points to go with a team-high five assists while Brock Gardner led the team with eight rebounds and added 11 points.

TMU hosts Arizona Christian at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Bross Court.

Women’s college basketball

Hannah Ostrom had a team-high 17 points while Valencia alum Sabrina Thompson and Hannah Forrar each had 10 points. Anika Neuman led the Mustangs with nine rebounds and four assists and also chipped in seven points.

The team hosts No. 23 Arizona Christian at 2 pm. on Saturday at Bross Court.
