Deputies are searching for a suspected bank robber dressed all in black who held up the US Bank in Valencia late Monday afternoon.

They’re also looking for a woman who drove the getaway car.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., a man dressed in black entered the US Bank branch on Newhall Ranch Road, at Rye Canyon Road, Sgt. Brian Hudson of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The

Signal.

The suspect entered the bank and indicated to a teller that he was armed with a handgun, although no weapon was seen, he said.

The robber then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

When he left the bank, he got into a car described as an older model tan-colored sedan, possibly an Altima, driven by a woman described only as Hispanic.

The bank robber was described as a thin Hispanic man in his 30’s, about 5-foot11, with a beard and wearing a black jacket and black pants.

Deputies scoured areas on Rye Canyon Road, The Old Road and Newhall Ranch Road.

The robbery marks the second time in less than a week that a bank has been robbed in the SCV.

On Wednesday, shortly before 4 p.m., a man robbed the Chase branch on Lyons Avenue, near Orchard Village Road, in Newhall, after handing a note to a teller, Lt. Leo Bauer said at the time.

“It’s what we’d call a ‘demand note,’” Bauer said. “There was no weapon seen, but (the threat) is implied.”

Asked if detectives suspect Wednesday’s robbery and the one on Monday may be the work of the same man, Hudson said: “It’s too early to say.”
