WiSH for ‘Wine on the Roof’
Wine on the Roof, which was designed as a “sister event” for the popular local fundraiser Cocktails on the Rooftop, helped support Santa Clarita Valley’s public junior highs and high schools on May 17.
“With collaboration between local chefs and winemakers, plus the support of the community, this inaugural Wine on the Roof was a community event in the truest sense of the word,” said Amy Daniels, executive director of the WiSH Education Foundation.
“It shows us that together we can raise funds for an important cause while celebrating the best of where we live,” she added.
The foundation teamed up with Marlee Lauffer, president of the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation, and Eve Bushman of Eve Bushman Consulting for the event. The pair welcomed a host of winemakers and chefs to feed the 200 or so guests who took part in the inaugural event.
The WiSH Education Foundation helps local schools afford classroom support for things that aren’t paid for by state funding.
“The funds raised from the evening will go toward arts programs in the Hart district,” Daniels added. “With events like this we make a difference directly in the classroom, where it counts. We sincerely appreciate the participants, sponsors and ticketbuyers.”
A few of the participants included Olive Terrace Bar and Grill, The Old Town Junction, Honu Coffee, Hundred Miles L.A., Nothing Bundt Cakes, Sweat Beams Ice Cream, Bonefish Grill, Newhall Press Room and Wolf Creek Brewery, to name a few.
