Housing budgets on the agenda for supervisors
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., after the June 5 primary, with plans to discuss the $515-million budget of the Community Development Commission, or CDC, and Housing Authority for this fiscal year, among other items.
If it votes in favor, the board will be approving $515,690,700 that includes $158,237,800 in CDC funding and $357,453,100 in Housing Authority funds.
This would benefit unincorporated areas waiting to receive community development block grants, which are made available through CDC funding, according to county officials.
The combined FY 2018-2019 Budgets include $158.2 million for the CDC and $357.5 million for the Housing Authority. The budgets consist primarily of federal funding provided by HUD for housing and community development programs.
Local revenue sources include county funds, public housing rental income, and other grants received in support of housing.
Approval of the FY 2018-19 Budgets will enable the CDC/HACoLA to conduct program activities to benefit lowand moderate-income residents of the county and its participating cities, according to county documents.
The supervisors will also authorize Children and Family Services to add a total of $19 million to train and oversee providing trauma-informed services. It will also look at approval for for the continuation of paratransit services for eligible patrons for Fiscal Year 2018-19 at an estimated total amount of $3,897,000, according to county documents.
