Blues-rock band set to perform

The band Austin Jons and the Immortals are “the same old story of guys getting together and wanting to do something musically,” and they’re pumped to do it in Santa Clarita on Saturday night.

The band will be playing at the MAIN at 8 p.m., and it encourages everyone to come out to the show, said band frontman Austin Jons.

“If anyone is unhappy with what we present them, I personally will refund their money,” he said.

“We are an original band, we write all of our music, and it’s a great time,” Jons said. “We’re not looking to be on the cover of Rolling Stone. We just want to make a living playing music.”

The three-member band plays blues-rock and cites its influences as Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and other prominent bands.

The Immortals came together in 2016, after Jons had been composing lyrics for about 6 years before he decided he wanted to put them into the world.

“You have to understand, music is a part of my life,” he said. “I lived in east Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains growing up, so you had some country hillbillies that played everything from fiddles, to the type of mainstream Nashville music in the ’70s, and I as a kid was affected by all of that.”

The band’s influences come from “a broad genre of music, from country to Appalachian, foot stomping music to just straight up rock ’n’ roll,” he said.

“And I also focus most on my lyrics, telling a story in most of my songs,” he said.

Residents who can’t make the show at the MAIN can come to the Immortals’ monthly showcase at the Sierra Saloon at 17730 Sierra Highway in Canyon Country.
